“源流（ルーツ）とその伝承――未来へ向けて”
・ゲスト：レオ・P・カティグバク 氏／フィルムアーキビスト
今年の大阪アジアン映画祭の幕開けを飾ったのは、レストア版『万博追跡』。製作から55年を経て、ボロボロの状態だったフィルムが大阪・関西万博の地で蘇るという、象徴的な幕開けです。過去を保存し未来へ橋渡しする――フィルムレストレーションの実践とその意義に注目します。

“フィリピンのインディペンデント映画制作の今”

コンペティション作品『サンシャイン』は、トロントやベルリンなど世界の映画祭でも注目を集めています。国際舞台で存在感を放つフィリピンのインディペンデント映画――その制作現場のリアルと可能性を探ります。

“『サンシャイン』から見るフィリピンにおける倫理的ジレンマの可視化：宗教・法・ジェンダー”
・ゲスト：ルイズフリーダ・ジョイ・アンジェリカ・オライ氏／大阪大学大学院 人文学研究科 外国学専攻 特任講師
『サンシャイン』を手がかりに、フィリピン社会の現在を考えます。映画の背景にある宗教や法、ジェンダーといったテーマを専門家とともに読み解き、その文化を深掘りします。作品を観ていない方でもご参加いただけます。

“アジア映画を語ろう！――中之島から世界へ広がる対話の輪”
最後は、ゲストへの質疑応答と会場のみなさんとのディスカッションです。ここまでのお話しを受けて、アジア映画の魅力と可能性を分かち合い、中之島から世界へとつながる対話の輪を広げていきましょう。

ゲスト情報：
▶︎ジオ・ロムンタッ（『サンシャイン』プロデューサー）
マニラを拠点とする制作会社Super!の創設者として、世界に通用するオリジナルのフィリピン作品をプロデュースしている。ベルリナーレ・タレンツ、タレンツ・トーキョー、釜山アジアン・フィルム・スクール、ロッテルダム・ラボ修了。初プロデュース作『行方不明』（カール・ジョセフ・パパ監督、OAFF2024）は、第96回アカデミー賞フィリピン代表作品として歴史に名を刻み、2024年のアジア太平洋映画賞で最優秀アニメーション映画賞を受賞した。2024年のトロント国際映画祭でプレミア上映され、2025年のベルリン国際映画祭でクリスタル・ベア賞を受賞した最新作『サンシャイン』が、OAFF EXPO2025-OAFF2026コンペティション部門で上映される。

▶︎ルイズフリーダ・ジョイ・アンジェリカ・オライ（大阪大学大学院 人文学研究科 外国学専攻 特任講師）
イロカノ語、フィリピノ語、日本におけるフィリピン移民、その他フィリピン研究関連科目を担当。また、学部・大学院の両レベルで「ジェンダーの文化的構築」に関する授業を開講。春夏学期には植民地化以前から現代に至るまでのフィリピン女性をテーマとし、秋冬学期にはフィリピン人のジェンダーやセクシュアリティをめぐる課題を扱っている。フィリピン大学ディリマン校にて人類学の学士号および修士号を取得。2021年、大阪大学より人間科学の博士号を授与された。主な著書に『世界の言語シリーズ 20 イロカノ語（大阪大学出版会）』（栗村ドナルド・矢元貴美共著）など。

▶︎レオ・P・カティグバク（オンライン登壇／フィルムアーキビスト）
1980年代半ばにフリーランスのライター、編集者、プロデューサー、ディレクターとしてキャリアを開始。1994年にABSフィルムアーカイブを設立し、その後ABSおよびStudio 23の放送チャンネルでコンテンツ調達や編成を担当した。ABS-CBNフィルム・レストレーションを立ち上げた際には、社長室のチーフ・オブ・スタッフを務めた。現在はフリーランスのコンサルタントとして活動し、近年は「Sagip Pelikula（サギップペリクラ　直訳：映画を救う）」運動とABS-CBNの映画修復事業を統括するとともに、番組兼ポッドキャスト「Best 10 Bets」の共同ホストを務めた。

From Watching to Talking, and to Dialogues that Shape the Future
From Nakanoshima — a crossroads of knowledge and culture — the Osaka Asian Film Festival and the University of Osaka open a platform for discussing Asian cinema. Filmmakers, researchers, students, and audiences from different backgrounds intersect and engage in dialogue, generating fresh perspectives and discoveries. Through the lens of Asian cinema, explore the diverse societies and cultures behind the stories.
Join us as we set off on a new “journey” through Asian cinema from Nakanoshima — this time, heading to the Philippines!

Roots and Legacies of Philippine Cinema – Looking Toward the Future
Guest：Leo P Katigbak／Film Archivist

This year’s Osaka Asian Film Festival opened with the restored version of Tracing to EXPO ’70. More than half a century after its original release, the once-deteriorated film has been brought back to life on the very grounds of Expo ’70. We will explore the practice and significance of film restoration, which preserves the past while creating a bridge to the future.

Independent Filmmaking in the Philippines Today

The competition film Sunshine has been gaining attention at major international festivals such as Toronto and Berlin. Filipino independent cinema is making its mark on the global stage. This session will examine the realities and possibilities of its production environment today.

Through Sunshine: Visualizing Ethical Dilemmas of Religion, Law, and Gender

Taking Sunshine as our starting point, we will reflect on contemporary Filipino society. With experts, we will unpack themes such as religion, law, and gender, delving into the cultural and institutional contexts behind the film. The session is open to all, including those who have not yet seen the film.

Talking Films, Talking Asia! from Nakanoshima to the World

The program concludes with an open Q&A with our guests, followed by a discussion with the audience. Together, we will share insights into the appeal and potential of Asian cinema, expanding a circle of dialogue from Nakanoshima to the wider world.

Guest Profile

Geo Lomuntad
“Sunshine” Producer
As the founder of the Manila-based production company Super!, he produces original Filipino works with global appeal. He is an alumna of Berlinale Talents, Talents Tokyo, the Busan Asian Film School, and the Rotterdam Lab. His first produced feature, The Missing (dir. Carl Joseph Papa, OAFF 2024), made history as the Philippines’ official entry to the 96th Academy Awards and won Best Animated Feature at the 2024 Asia Pacific Screen Awards. His latest work, Sunshine, which premiered at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival and won the Crystal Bear at the 2025 Berlin International Film Festival, will be screened in the OAFF EXPO 2025–OAFF 2026 Competition section.

RUIZ Frieda Joy Angelica Olay
Graduate School of Humanities, the University of Osaka, Specially Appointed Associate Professor

Frieda Joy Angelica Olay RUIZ teaches Ilokano, Filipino, Filipino Migrants in Japan, and other Philippine Studies-related subjects. She also teaches Cultural Constructs of Gender courses, both in the undergraduate and graduate school level. Particularly, focusing on Filipino women during pre-colonial times to the present for the spring-summer term, and issues surrounding gender and sexuality of Filipinos for the fall-winter term. She graduated from the University of the Philippines-Diliman with degrees in BA in Anthropology and MA in Anthropology. In 2021, she was conferred a PhD in Human Sciences by The University of Osaka.
Her major publications include “Ilokanogo: World Language Series 20,” the first ever comprehensive Ilokano grammar textbook in Japan which she co-authored with KURIMURA Donald and YAMOTO Kimi and published by Osaka University Press in March 2025.

Leo P Katigbak
Present online／Film Archivist
Leo Katigbak started his career as a freelance writer, editor, producer and director in the mid-80s. He set up the ABS Film Archives in 1994 and subsequently assumed roles in content acquisitions and programming for ABS and Studio 23 broadcast channels. He was Chief of Staff under the office of the President when he launched ABS-CBN Film Restoration. Now a freelance consultant, he most recently oversaw the Sagip Pelikula Advocacy and ABS-CBN’s restoration efforts as well as co-hosted the show/podcast Best 10 Bets.

大阪アジアン映画祭では、「大阪発。日本全国、そしてアジアへ！」をテーマに、アジア映画最新作のコンペティション部門をはじめ、特別注視部門、インディ・フォーラム部門、その他特集企画・特別招待作品部門など、多彩なプログラムでアジア映画の魅力を紹介しています。
今回は、2025大阪・関西万博の会期に合わせ、初めての夏開催。歴史的にアジアとの交易・文化交流の要所で、「アジアの玄関口」と呼ばれてきた中之島の地で、大阪アジアン映画祭と大阪大学が新たなアジアへの扉を開きます。
